Fear God who Forgives

Psalm 130 vs 3,4

“If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness
therefore you are feared
.”

Most religious philosophy would disagree with this statement. God, whether he is a personal God or not, is to be feared because he (or it) is a God who punishes sin. Even the system of Karma could be said to have this basic sort of philosophy at root (bad things done are punished in some way). Many Christians subscribe to this idea too.

Yet, here is a stark contrast in the Judeo/Christian Scriptures. God is to be feared because He is a God who forgives. Something to think about.
